AS Roma will be looking to bounce back after a disappointing display in Europe on Thursday night, as they return to the home comforts of Serie A as they take on bottom side Salernitana on Sunday evening.

Roma goes into the game on Sunday after a disappointing showing away in Norway in the first leg of the Quarterfinals of the UEFA Europa Conference League against Bodo/Glimt. Roma took the lead through Lorenzo Pellegrini‘s first-half goal. But were outdone in Bodo in the second half as the Norwegian champions scored twice including a late winner to take a 2-1 advantage to Rome for the second leg.

The league form for AS Roma has been outstanding since the 9th of January and that twenty-minute capitulation against Juventus, 3-1 up with twenty minutes left then lost 4-3. But since then, Jose Mourinho‘s side are unbeaten in ten Serie A games which include four wins out of the last five and back-to-back wins over Lazio and Sampdoria in recent weeks.

Gianluca Mancini is rumoured to be rested for tomorrow’s game after he picked up a knee injury away in Bodo on Thursday evening. Lorenzo Pellegrini is suspended for the game after he picked up a yellow card in stoppage time in the away win at Sampdoria.

Salernitana visit the Italian capital on Sunday evening already on their third coach of the season. The side from Salerno are rock bottom in the Serie A standings. After twenty-nine games played, Salernitana are rooted to the bottom with just sixteen points. Six points behind both Venezia and Genoa who have both twenty-two points. Genoa have played two games more; Cagliari are nine points clear of Salernitana in seventeenth position. The side from Sardinia are hovering close to the relegation zone, only separated by three points from Genoa and Venezia.

Salernitana form in 2022 has been horrific, one win in eleven games. The win came in their first game of 2022 which was a 2-1 away win at Hellas Verona, but what has followed has been disastrous. Winless in the next ten games which has seen five draws and five defeats. That has included four draws in a row against Spezia, Genoa, AC Milan, and Bologna. But has included heavy away defeats to Napoli and Inter. Salernitana do have two games in had which are against both Udinese and Venezia. They have both been scheduled in for the 20th April and 27th April. But the Kick off times have not been released.
