Roma, is Mourinho’s Real Goal the Scudetto?

Riccardo De Luca - Update /

Mourinho keeps saying that Roma’s target is not the Italian title this season but his former boss at Inter believes his real goal is to bring the Giallorossi to success.

“Serie A has one more team, Roma will chase the Scudetto,” had said Massimo Moratti to Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli. The former President of Inter knows the Portuguese coach very well. Years ago, Mourinho led the Nerazzurri to the glory domestically and on the international stage collecting a legendary ‘triplete’. “Someone like him is not aiming for third place, even if he will never say it,” continued Moratti.

Although a few days ago the General Manager of the Giallorossi stated that his target is not the Scudetto but the Champions League, the feeling is that Roma are a very ambitious club. The Friedkins invested this summer to improve the quality of the roster and, together with Pinto, decided to give the keys to their project to José Mourinho.

Massimo Moratti is not the only one who believes that Mourinho may be the added value of the Giallorossi this season. When Pinto finalized the acquisition of Abraham from Chelsea, many skeptical football experts have changed their minds.

The Portuguese coach is leading the operations at Trigoria. Dan and Ryan Friedkin have revived an environment very disappointed with the performance of the group over the past two seasons. Tiago Pinto has shown his temperament and expertise in the recent transfer market window. There’s everything to believe that Roma may be competitive for the Scudetto this season.
