The Giallorossi defended the two goals scored in Amsterdam and got access to the Europa League semi-finals eliminating Ajax at the Stadio Olimpico.

Football can be interpreted in different ways. A defensive approach may pay at times albeit the development of offensive strategies is more attractive and preferable. What happened at the Stadio Olimpico highlights that finalizing offensive efforts is the most important factor in football.

Although Ajax clearly managed possession throughout the 90+ minutes, the Dutch side has been more beautiful than effective. The men of coach ten Hag play marvelously, but they repeatedly hit on the Lupi wall.

The defensive approach showed by the Giallorossi did not surprise those who still had in mind the game played in Holland. The Dutch side had managed the pace of the game in the first UEL clash and showed their technique today as well.

Roma ended the game with 34 clearances, 13 tackles, and 16 interceptions… a solid defensive performance by Fonseca’s group!

We could honestly say that in football if you don’t finalize your chances you are out! This is true even more when playing in an international competition where away goals are worth a fortune.

The feeling is that the experience of players on the pitch played a big role in the double clash between Roma and Ajax. The Giallorossi maximized their offensive efforts in both games and reached the Europa League semi-finals.

Manchester United will be a tough obstacle though. The Red Devils are the favorite side to reach the final step of this international competition, but Fonseca might find a way to surprise the rock-hard British team.
