The captain of the Giallorossi clearly believes in the potential of Roma as a team capable of doing great things. Pellegrini focuses on team spirit to improve and reach the seasonal goals.

What Pellegrini said right after Roma v Spezia 4-3 shouldn’t surprise anyone. The captain of the Giallorossi dragged his teammates to a vital victory yesterday scoring the winner when no one would have expected it.

The hard-fought win against Italiano‘s men may have provided a clear answer to those who wondered if the team is still convinced of Paulo Fonseca‘s technical project.

Pellegrini’s winner scored in the very last minute may also have brought back positivity within the Giallorossi, a group that has experienced highs and lows in the past week.

The team passed through a bad week having suffered defeats that we shouldn’t have suffered. But we have our identity since the start of the year and, beyond the mistakes, we showed that today.

Lorenzo Pellegrini said to ROMA TV after yesterday’s match

The Lupi now have a week to prepare for the next Serie A clash against Hellas Verona.

I understand the mood of the fans after the Derby and the Coppa Italia match but we have to prepare match after match to try to win them all and stay where we are.

Pellegrini continued

But his words were clearly focused on a concept that seems to be fundamental not only in football but in sport in general. Seasonal goals are achieved only by sticking together and building a solid group. Pellegrini spoke about team spirit as a necessary factor to improve.

Team spirit means to understand that none of us can win or lose matches alone. When a teammate makes a mistake, it’s never only his fault but everyone’s. If we want to try to improve and do something great we have to do it always all together. This is what this group thinks.
