The Giallorossi returned to the Italian capital with a Europa League defeat. Although CSKA Sofia scored three goals, Roma managed the possession and created goal-scoring opportunities.

The first phase of the Europa League edition 2020-21 is now over. The Lupi qualified for the next round collecting the first position in the group.

Although CSKA Sofia defeated the Giallorossi yesterday, Fonseca’s team showed some positive things and interesting new performers.

A Solid Tactical Plan

Paulo Fonseca‘s tactical plan is ambitious. Even when his team loses a match, the moves on the pitch are clearly visible. Roma likes to establish possession in the final third in order to find available space to put the striker in front of the goal.

Milanese, a strong and dynamic player with room for improvement

62′ minutes played without fear and with the confidence to leave an important mark on the match. Tommaso Milanese scored his first goal with Roma yesterday, but his ability to stay in the center of the action throughout the match was even more impressive.

He made 57 touches (88% of accurate passes) and won 3 out of 4 ground duels. We are talking about a player who is only 18, a midfielder with room for improvement.

Mayoral, a real striker who can become a point of reference for his teammates

Although he did not score against the Bulgarian team, the Spaniard knows how to help his teammates on the pitch. He is a player capable of holding the ball up while the team begins its offensive phase.

Mayoral‘s offensive moves are impressive as well. He knows how to attack the space and put the opponents in danger. Fonseca may have found a player ready to blossom.
