Roma will be active in the next transfer window but its strategy may be different from that of previous years. The goal is to confirm their stars.
Rumors from Italy and the U.K. were insistently reporting on an imminent happy ending of the Roma-Pedro deal. The Giallorossi are also incessantly working on Smalling with Manchester United while Mkhitaryan already confirmed his commitment to the Lupi. The club of Trigoria wants to keep their experienced stars and they may reach their objectives this summer.
The Lupi will definitely try to offload many players with heavy salaries in the next transfer window, but should their moves on the market be extreme?
Paulo Fonseca may have the possibility to train one of the greatest Spanish players of the last decade, Pedro Rodriguez, a player who can operate on both offensive flanks and provide the team with his immense experience and quality.
With Nicolò Zaniolo on the launchpad, the Italian star is almost fully recovered and ready to join the first team after a long time, the Giallorossi may let Under and/or Kluivert go to rebalance their accounts but they would also be willing to trade several other players such as Juan Jesus, Fazio, Perotti, Pastore, and Schick.
Just a few tweaks to consolidate the roster may not be enough at this time. The backbone of the team is strong and talented but the club needs to do much more to build a competitive side.
After their back to back defeats against Milan and Udinese, they may be forced to focus on the Europa League. That competition would be the only possibility to reach an unexpected qualification for the Champions League. Now the Giallorossi should have the necessary time to improve and shine.
