Italian football is looking for the right strategy to start again. Serie A will likely resume but the players will have to work in new ways.
Reportedly, most of the Italian football clubs would be happy to finalize the 2019-20 Serie A season albeit many procedural doubts have not yet been clarified.
The Italian Serie A will likely resume, but the sense of responsibility of all those who work in the world of football must be predominant. Clearly, new strategies will be implemented to avoid contacts between players but many believe it will not be really possible to achieve an absolute level of safety.
It would be foolish to believe that 22 players on a football pitch can avoid contact for 90+ minutes. Corner kicks and free kicks represent the greatest risks. The predictable celebrations for a goal scored would be another aspect to consider. A natural and instinctive gesture that would be difficult to control.
The presence of other players on the benches would be a problem as well. Will they sit there together or will they be sitting on the side of the pitch respecting the social distancing rule?
It will not be easy to keep football in total safety albeit the Italian Football Federation, the Italian government, and many other parties involved are working hard to make it happen.
