Spinazzola can still be important to Roma…in his favorite position

The Spinazzola-Politano swap deal is over and both players are back to their teams. As Fonseca stated today, Spinazzola will play against Genoa.

The Italian defender is back to Rome and he may be an important player for Paulo Fonseca. In the next Serie A clash Genoa-Roma, the Portuguese coach won’t have Kolarov and Florenzi available and Leonardo Spinazzola should play in his favorite position (left flank).

When the Spinazzola-Politano swap deal stopped, many thought about the consequences of not having a replacement for Zaniolo. But the return of Spinazzola in the eternal city may be very important, though.

Reportedly, Juan Jesus could be leaving the Italian capital in the current transfer window. Cetin and Santon are the only other defenders able to play as a fullback. Fazio is still a good defensive option and, reportedly, Ibanez should undergo medical examinations in Rome on Monday.

Spinazzola has, therefore, already the opportunity to change Fonseca’s mind. “I’m ok. I’m only thinking about Genoa,” Spinazzola said to the press waiting for him at the airport in the eternal city.

The Italian defender would be ready to play on Sunday. He may have a desire for revenge. He may want to show everyone that he is fit and capable of making a difference on the left side of the pitch…his favorite position.
