Europa League: Fonseca wants Roma to change their attitude

Paulo Fonseca | AS Roma

Roma go ahead in the Europa League but their disappointing performance deeply upset Fonseca and the fans at the Stadio Olimpico.

The most important thing was to get access to the Europa League knockout stage and taking into consideration only that objective, Roma‘s mission is successfully completed.

But Paulo Fonseca analyzed the performance of his group as well and he clearly expressed his disappointment in the interviews after Roma-Wolfsberger.

“I think we thought this game was already won…I’m not satisfied with this match,” Paulo Fonseca said to Sky. “With Pellegrini and Zaniolo we did better. We lost possession many times and when that happens the other team, that is strong, can put you in trouble on the counter.”

Borussia M’Gladbach suffered an unexpected home defeat against Istanbul Basaksheir and got an early elimination from the Europa League. Roma failed to reach the first position of the Group J, though.

“It’s not easy to accept this result against this team. They played without pressure and with a great attitude. I didn’t like this game,” Fonseca stated to the press.
