Roma Tries to Specialize in Corner Kicks

The Giallorossi have been really dangerous with corner kicks so far. Roma has a group of very physical players.

In the past few years, the Lupi have never been very proficient with corner kicks. Strategies are important but the physicality of players is even more. Mancini had a couple of great chances to score and even Smalling wasted a few favorable opportunities.

When asked about Roma‘s potential with corner kicks, Paulo Fonseca highlighted that it’s not a matter of luck.

“Mancini, Fazio, Smalling, and Dzeko are strong players. We have to keep going. We have very strong players from set-pieces,” said the Portuguese coach in the press conference ahead of Udinese-Roma.

Serie A is a very difficult league. If a team has the physical predisposition to be proficient with corner kicks, it can be a decisive factor to win.
