Roma Planned a Change to Become more Aggressive

The Giallorossi defeated Istambul Basaksehir 4-0 and collected their first three points of the 2019-20 Europa League. Fonseca made changes to improve.

Everyone knows that Paulo Fonseca‘s system is very offensive. But his football is not extreme. The Portuguese coach implemented a few changes to improve tactically and enhance the quality of his men.

The match against Lazio has been pivotal for him. Thanks to that disappointing performance, he spoke to his group and found appropriate countermeasures. “The match against Lazio was important to us to understand what we were not doing properly. We spoke together as a team and we changed to become more aggressive,” said Fonseca to Sky Italia after today’s Europa League match. “The players are learning and I’m very happy.”

“My players know that we always need to have many options. This is very important for our team. They all need to be moving especially when we get the ball. We have to stay compact. I’m very confident because all the players have understood what I want.”
