The Portuguese coach is happy with today’s win against Lecce. Fonseca believes his team is finding the right balance.
Important win for the Giallorossi in a tough Serie A away match on an insidious pitch. The Lupi dominated the match since the beginning even if they should have done something more especially in the first half.
Dzeko scored the opener during the second 45 minutes capitalizing on a great cross by Mkhitaryan. Excellent performance by Kluivert. The Dutchman is making the difference on the right offensive flank.
“We could have scored 5-6 goals. In the second half, Lecce didn’t have any chance. We are finding the right team balance,” said Fonseca to Sky Sport right after the match. “I’m also happy because we have not suffered goals today. It’s always tough to win an away match.”
Chris Smalling led the backline today. Mancini played a good match as well. Fonseca is happy with their performance: “I trust all my players. Mancini and Smalling had a good performance but even Fazio had played well before. It’s always hard when I have to choose [one of them] but I’m happy because even if we changed some players, the team kept the main football idea.”
