Roma in Search of Quality to Play Fonseca’s Football

Roma-Athletic Bilbao ended 2-2 at the Renato Curi stadium but the performance of the Lupi was not extremely convincing. Fonseca needs more quality in his roster.

We are getting closer to the start of another tough campaign and Fonseca’s group seems to be not ready yet. The Portuguese coach needs much more from his sporting director and from those players that are currently in his roster. The Giallorossi are in search of quality.

Karsdorp returned to his former and beloved club (Feyenoord) today leaving Florenzi and Santon on that flank. The two Italians are not enough for the demanding and offensive tactical approach of Paulo Fonseca. Petrachi needs to find an expert right-back and Hysaj may be the best option for the Lupi.

Mancini, Fazio, and Jesus cannot be left alone. Roma needs a top-level defender, a leader able to direct the backline in difficult moments. The transfer market session in the United Kingdom will end tomorrow and albeit British clubs can still sell players after August 8th, it would be better for Roma to launch a final attack to Tottenham and sign Toby Alderweireld now.

Diawara will be playing several matches this season albeit he doesn’t seem to be a perfect playmaker Pizarro style. Veretout will help him in front of the backline but since his arrival in the Italian capital, the Frenchman hasn’t played a minute yet. Cristante and Pellegrini are two valid options but both of them do not have that soft touch and vision necessary to play in that critical position. Nzonzi, instead, could be traded out soon.

The Giallorossi may need another winger as well. Perotti and Kluivert are now the masters of the left-side but Cengiz Under needs a skilled teammate able to help him on that flank. An available name on the market is Suso. The Milan man would be perfect for Fonseca’s football style and Petrachi should try everything possible to sign the Spaniard.

Edin Dzeko is still in Rome but Schick may leave the club soon. Borussia Dortmund is still interested in the Czech striker. If the Bosnia international will stay in the eternal city for one more year, the Giallorossi still need another man up-front. Petrachi could sign Llorente. The former Juventus man is a free-agent and this deal should be sealed as soon as possible.
