Roma and Inter May Meet Halfway for Dzeko

The Bosnian striker begins his summer retreat at Roma but his future should be with the Nerazzurri. Dzeko could be leaving soon. Inter wants to close this deal.

We have spoken about this deal for a long time. “This is like a chess game,” had said Inter’s CEO Marotta just a few days ago during the first press conference of Antonio Conte in Milan. Roma’s sporting director is a tough man, though. Gianluca Petrachi is not willing to let Dzeko go at a discount.

But the imminent expiration of his contract may force the Lupi to reduce their asking price. Reportedly, Roma believes Dzeko is worth about €20 million while Inter is willing to pay approximately €10m. No way this deal can be finalized as is but the two clubs will probably meet halfway soon (€14m?).

Dzeko to Inter would be a win/win solution for both clubs. Antonio Conte firmly wants the striker and this is the right moment for the Giallorossi to trade him out. The player is also the highest paid man on Fonseca‘s roster. Reportedly, his gross salary is about €8m per season.

One of the main strategies of the Giallorossi this summer is to reduce their operating costs. In financial terms, Edin Dzeko’s departure would definitely be beneficial to the club of Trigoria. But if we analyze the football played on the pitch, Roma must find a top striker to replace the captain of the Bosnian national team.

Gonzalo Higuain seems to be the main target of the Lupi at this time. But the player is reportedly dubious about starting a new experience with another Italian side. The Argentine could be a great leader of Fonseca’s group, but Petrachi wants only happy and motivated players 100% committed to the club.

Financially speaking, Higuain may not be the best pick for Roma. His salary is reportedly very high for a player that will turn 32 in December. In the press conference at Trigoria yesterday, when asked about the possible new striker for next season, Paulo Fonseca replied, “My ideal striker is one who scores goals.” Gonzalo Higuain is one of the best strikers in the world but he would be beneficial to Roma only if he firmly believes he can make a devasting impact in the Italian capital.

The fans of the Giallorossi would be ready to support him!
