The sporting director of the Giallorossi made a great impression in his first press conference at Trigoria. Petrachi is a strong and knowledgeable man ready to reshape Roma.
We have been waiting for a while but now Roma has a new efficient sporting director working to strengthen Fonseca‘s group. This is the mission of Gianluca Petrachi, an experienced professional who did great things at Torino. The Italian executive wants to bring the Lupi were they are supposed to be, closer to the top teams of the Bel Paese.
His task will not be easy though. Petrachi needs to find the right players for Paulo Fonseca’s tactical style but also professionals excited to join the glorious club of the eternal city.
“I’ve always been ambitious and I’ve always loved a challenge,” had said Petrachi during the press conference at Trigoria.
Although some of his colleagues asked him why he wanted to start this adventure in Rome, Gianluca Petrachi decided to accept this stimulating challenge because “achieving something here would mean I’ve succeeded in my career.”
Roma will be very active this summer. A technical overhaul is in action after a very disappointing 2018-19 campaign. “Right now we have to rebuild to turn this team into a winning team again. We need to rebuild a sense of belonging. Only time will tell if I’m able to achieve something and if Roma will be able of lifting trophies,” said Petrachi.
A tough man with extensive knowledge of the world of football.
Will Petrachi be able to purchase the right players for Fonseca?
This is not the time to judge his work. We just have to wait and support his decisions. Meanwhile, Roma is waiting to welcome its new wall, Pau Lopez. Although the deal has not yet been finalized, several Italian and Spanish outlets are firmly convinced the 24-year-old from Girona (Spain) will be joining the Giallorossi soon.
Gonzalo Higuain could be an interesting bet if Dzeko will move to Inter. Barella could still be a viable option for the Lupi albeit the Italian midfielder seems to be really close to the Nerazzurri.
Radja Nainggolan, instead, would be a dream that may never come true. Inter’s CEO Marotta has clearly stated that the Belgian star is not part of Inter’s project. The Lupi may have a great chance to bring him back at a discount. He may be one of these experienced players Petrachi was talking about during his first press conference as a sporting director of Roma.
