Petrachi: My Job is not Just Buying and Selling Players

The sporting director of the Giallorossi was asked about the current transfer market negotiations during Spinazzola’s first press conference as a Roma player.

Words can be perceived in various ways but Petrachi loves to clarify the concepts before they can be interpreted. No space for deductions. Everyone must understand that the new sporting director of the Lupi works secretly to achieve Roma’s targets.

“I’m not going to talk about individuals. I don’t like talking about what I’m doing,” said Petrachi to the press today.

Several Italian outlets are reporting about Nicolò Zaniolo‘s future. The Italian player has been linked with many clubs and included in possible negotiations with British sides. But Gianluca Petrachi clearly stated, “I never put Zaniolo up for sale. If the question is ‘Is Zaniolo for sale?’ the answer is ‘No’.”

But in football, anything can happen. The Roma executive believes that “in football, as in life, you have to be capable of weighing everything up.”

Petrachi is fully focused on his new Roma job. He needs to reshape the roster bringing in talented players to strengthen Fonseca‘s group. But he firmly explained that “my job is not just buying and selling players. I work on the pitch and I’m in close contact with the players.”

There is still much to do to make Roma very competitive again. But Gianluca Petrachi is going ahead on his path chasing the right players for Fonseca’s tactical approach.
