Only Motivated Players Can Cross the Gates of Trigoria

The new sporting director of the Lupi is determined to set up a group of players really committed to the club. Petrachi monitors the market to find the right men.

We should never forget what Gianluca Petrachi said during his first press conference as Roma sporting director. “Right now we have to rebuild to turn this team into a winning team again. We need to rebuild a sense of belonging. Only time will tell if I’m able to achieve something and if Roma will be able to lift trophies,” said Petrachi.

The Italian executive wants to bring the Lupi were they are supposed to be, closer to the top teams of the Bel Paese. But only players really happy and motivated to join Roma will be accepted at Trigoria. The gates of the training center of the Lupi will remain close to those who do not believe in the new project of the Giallorossi.

One bad season cannot erase all the positive things done by this club over the past few years. Di Francesco had brought his group to the Champions League semifinals and Fonseca, instead, wants to get back into that prestigious competition next year.

There’s much more to do to fill the gap with the best Italian sides and to compete with the European powerhouses. But Gianluca Petrachi is doing great things. The Italian sporting director needs to find the right striker to replace Edin Dzeko. Reportedly, Gonzalo Higuain is one of Roma‘s main targets but the player doesn’t seem to be ready to accept Roma as a possible destination at this time.

According to several Italian outlets, ‘El Pipita‘ wants to stay at Juventus and convince Sarri that he can be the right man for the Bianconeri‘s offensive line. But the Giallorossi cannot wait forever. Petrachi wants players focused on Roma and 100% committed to the club. Apparently, the Argentine would not really be convinced about the potential of the Lupi.

If this were true, the Giallorossi should change target immediately. Roma just needs certainty right now!
