Mancini Needs a Totti: I Want to Win EURO and World Cup

The coach of the Italian national team was interviewed by the Italian outlet La Gazzetta dello Sport. Mancini reveals his imminent and future goals and chooses Totti. 

In a long interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, the coach of the Italian national team confirms to be an extremely ambitious man ready to challenge the best teams in the world. He accepted the role to regenerate the Italian football movement after the terrible exclusion from the last World Cup.

“We haven’t won in Europe since 1968. It’s time to do it!” said Mancini to the Italian outlet. “My plan is to win EURO and World Cup. I don’t know if the other national teams agree. But our common thought is this.”

Words that excite the fans of the Bel Paese. Mancini is leading a group of talented young players but he firmly believes his group can do great things. The Italian coach was also asked to pick a player of the past able to make the difference in his current roster and Mancini chose the legendary number 10 of the Giallorossi Francesco Totti.

“Thinking about our current team…Totti. It wouldn’t be that simple. There is a long list of incredible players. But as our team is today and for our tactical and technical nature, I would take him. He would complete it,” said Roberto Mancini to La Gazzetta dello Sport.
