The owner of the giallorossi spoke about the importance of building a new facility in the Italian capital. Roma need their stadium to compete with the top European powerhouses. Pallotta is confident in a positive ending of the approval process.
There’s nothing more important than the stadium if we want to see Roma at the level of the best teams in Europe. Although in the last six years the Lupi have improved structurally and as a team, the American investor wants to give a new marvelous and multi-functional facility to his club and to the eternal city.
Jim Pallotta is ready to break ground albeit a few procedural things must be completed before receiving the final green light from the Italian institutions.
“Whenever the stadium will be built, we will have control of the entire project and more flexibility in terms of partners and others that will be working with us,” said the Bostonian investor to Sirius XM FC. “In order to compete consistently as one of the top five/six teams in the world, the stadium is 100% key. It’s a matter of economics. It’s just a fact of life.”
“The stadium will be owned by the AS Roma holding company. People don’t realize that it is not going to be my toy. It will be owned by the team and the incremental revenue that we’ll be getting will hopefully give us more financial strength and flexibility,” said Pallotta.
