Although most of the Roma fans are upset with their club for changing too many players, the truth is different.
Football experts and fans firmly believe that the only way to create a united and effective team is by giving to the players the possibility to perform together for several years.
Most of the Italian fans and professionals working in the world of football have always highlighted that Juventus have been the only team able to keep a stable team over the years. According to them, Agnelli‘s side is indisputably leading the Serie A championship also due to this ‘strategic’ approach.
Allegri‘s backline have not changed in the past few years. Only Bonucci left the club in the summer 2017 and then returned to Turin 12 months after.
The truth, though, seems to be different.
According to data unveiled by CIES football observatory, Napoli and Roma are two of the most stable teams in Europe and consequently in Italy.
As reported by CIES, “The majority of teams with the highest stability figures are among the most competitive teams in their respective leagues.”
The period under observation is from July 1, 2018 to October 1, 2018.
Roma have fielded this season players who have been in the first team squad for the past (2.94 years) and sit in the 13th position of the rankings.
Napoli have not change much as well. The Partenopei have fielded almost the same players in the past 3.43 years (9th position).
Surprisingly, or maybe not, Juventus are not listed in the first 20 positions of the most stable teams of the big-5 leagues ranking.
CIES has also confirmed that “only three teams in Europe have fielded this season players who have been in the first team squad since more than five years on average: Real Madrid (5.84 years), Barcelona (5.36) and Bayern Munich (5.26).”
