Di Francesco: “Young Players are a Double-Edged Sword”

Eusebio Di Francesco | AS Roma

Roma coach Di Francesco believes his team is ready to restart on the right path after a couple of disappointing matches ahead of the international break.

Roma need to collect three points on Sunday against Chievo Verona. No doubts about that! In today’s press conference ahead of the next Serie A clash, the Italian coach explained that the best thing to do now is to return to his previous tactical approach. Therefore, the giallorossi will play an offensive 4-3-3 on Sunday at the Stadio Olimpico.

“Right now, my team need certainties. We need to play our ‘old’ tactical scheme,” Eusebio Di Francesco said to the press and media.

The Italian coach also unveiled that Edin Dzeko and Alessandro Florenzi will be starting the match tomorrow.

“Dzeko played later than the others. But he will play tomorrow. I talked to the guys, they are all motivated.”

In response to a question about young people as important resources for his team, Di Francesco stated:

“Young players are a double-edged sword. They must have the possibility to make mistakes. Zaniolo, Pellegrini, and Cristante are competing for a spot. They have the necessary skills to play in midfield close to the playmaker.”

A few days ago, Francesco Totti stated that Juventus play a different league and the Lupi are not competing for the title this season.

“I agree with him because Juventus have 9 points now. This is not something new. We must reduce the gap by finding determination and malice,” the Roma coach concluded.
