The new AS Roma sporting director released an interview with the Onda Cero Radio station.
“I am very tired. Yesterday, I had an important press conference.
I didn’t see much of Rome. I live in a hotel 30KM far away from the Trigoria sporting center at this time. I am here in Rome alone because my family is still in Sevilla. Rome is a beautiful city. The character of the Romans is similar to that of the Andalusian. The language is easily understandable to Spanish speakers, although I still speak very little Italian, only the most common words.
The Italian press is not so different from the Spanish one. Roma has a huge resonance. There are many press and media companies that follow the club. There are radio stations that speak only about Roma 24 hours a day. It’s one of the things that struck me most. Then the televisions, the newspapers etc…
It was a more sentimental relationship in Seville. I will try to assimilate the Romanesque culture here, which is important to perceive. This is a massive club and now I want to be a professional sporting director.
My debut has not been great. We lost the derby but with a victory we could have decreased the gap with Juventus to only 6 points. We would have also left Napoli 4 points behind.
Roma and Sevilla have similar strategies on the transfer market. They purchase the same kind of players even though the Giallorossi have a greater economic budget, almost double that of Seville. Roma’s main objective is not a footballer worth 50-80 million euro. Roma doesn’t follow Pjanic when the player is already at Juventus or Marquinhos when he is at PSG. Roma purchases Marquinhos from Brazil. But compared to Seville, there is more money here, just look at the overall salaries of the two clubs.
I recently spoke with Emery. He congratulated me on my new experience. Marcelino sent me a message 15-20 days ago. I didn’t speak with him. I would like to convince Spalletti to stay here with us. However, if he decides to go we will think about what to do.”
