The Serie A 2016-17 will be played during the Christmas holidays. This is what the Italian football federation decided during a general assembly that took place in Milan.

The show will go on even during the holidays. The Serie A games will be played on December 23rd and 30th, as well as on January 6th. After the winter break, the Italian clubs will return to the pitch on January 21st, 2017, despite the request of coach Ventura to anticipate the start of the Serie A 2016-17 to January 13th due to the big match that Italy has to play against Spain valid for the qualification to the next World Cup.

The Serie A 2016-17 will end up on May 20th. The midweek games will be played on September 20th, October 25th, and April 18th.
