The Coppa Italia derby Roma-Lazio ended up as forecasted. Lazio got to the final match exploiting its great performance of the first-leg and managing the situation in the second 90 minutes.

Today’s Roma-Lazio seemed to be the replay of the game played a few weeks ago. In that occasion, Lazio carefully defended its fort and meticulously counter-attacked inflicting fatal blows to the Giallorossi. Today, we saw almost the same tactical scheme. Since the beginning, Roma decided to set the pace of the game and if Dzeko would have scored an easy tap-in after 2 minutes probably the match could have been different. However, the reality is that Lazio wisely defended the result collected in the Coppa Italia first leg and Inzaghi’s team deserved to pass to the final match.

Remarkable, was the performance of Spalletti’s guys but, once more, it wasn’t enough to make that leap in quality that the AS Roma supporters are waiting for so long. Even this time, the Giallorossi demonstrated a historical reluctance in winning those matches characterized by higher pressures and expectations. Luciano Spalletti blamed himself for the performance of his guys but probably there are other external factors that trigger negative impacts on the progress of these challenges.

Over the years, players and managers changed but the final result is still disappointing. The reality is that it is always more difficult to win in a place starved of victories but this situation must change soon. Roma licks its wounds and looks ahead. The season is still on even if it will be difficult to stand up and try to chase Juventus.
