The former Sevilla FC sporting director, Monchi, released an interview to the Spanish magazine estadiodeportivo.com.
Monchi highlighted his great feeling with Emery but he also spoke about Luciano Spalletti and his actual performance at Roma.
“I worked with Emery for three and half years amazingly well. We lived in total harmony and we reached unimaginable heights. I’d love to work with him because he is a great coach and team managers like good coaches.
But in general I have had many good coaches. I would say the same thing about Marcelino and Juande Ramos. Unai is the last coach in order of time, probably this is the reason why he is remembered the most.
I prefer not to talk about AS Roma because I am not there. Massara is their sporting director. It is not fair or appropriate to talk about it. I am aware of Spalletti’s work and I know he’s having a great season. With AS Roma I had just a couple of meetings to find out what they want from me and to let them know what I can give them.
Nobody directly called me from Real Madrid or Barcelona. There have been contacts with an agent, but I answered that I am to old for teasing, but not too old for serious things.”
