Sevilla FC’s president Castro and Monchi held a press conference at the Sanchez Pizjuan stadium. The Spanish sporting director announced his resignation after many years of success in Spain.

Monchi’s press conference:

Castro: “We have done everything possible and impossible to hold him here, including an economic offer out of the market, however, he refused it. The doors of this club will always be open for him in the future.

Monchi: “It is not a professional issue, but personal. I knew since last May that this moment would have come. And I know that I will not earn the same money that the president offered me anywhere else.

Roma? I haven’t signed any contract. I haven’t signed a three years contract as I heard around. I don’t have any commitment with other clubs even if I know that you guys are not going to believe me. The Giallorossi are interested in me, as well as many other clubs. I admit that I met the AS Roma managers in London before the end of my actual contract. I apologize to the president for this but I only listened about the project.

A sabbatical year? It’s a chance that I would not rule out now, but I have some interesting offers and I have to evaluate them well.

Castro: “No provision shall be paid to release Monchi. Our contract with him is simply solved as of now.”
