Roma vs Villarreal 0-1: A team voluntarily distorted by Spalletti

AS Roma passes the Europa League round after a great performance in Spain and a relaxed return in Rome.

Everything we were expecting has happened. The return match of the Europa League between Roma and Villarreal has been really useful to Luciano Spalletti to let the usual starters rest and give minutes to those players that are often on the bench. The Tuscan coach changed 7 players out of 11 voluntarily distorting a team that today had the only commitment to manage the pace of the game.

The final result, 0-1 for the Spanish team, is not relevant for the qualification and it doesn’t change the overall excitement mode that Dzeko and Co. have thanks to the consecutive great performances done.

The positive mentions of the night go for the Brazilian goalkeeper Alisson and the right-back Bruno Peres. The first once more demonstrated his professionalism and class saving Roma at least three times. His remarkable virtue of this season is to be able to perform well every time that Spalletti fielded him, just once or twice a month when the giallorossi play in the national and European cups. Bruno Peres seems to be a very useful player able to cover all the right side. Today he showed off his best quality, the endurance, being the most active player on the pitch.

Now the mind of the supporters and of the players go to the big clash of Sunday against Inter at San Siro stadium. Spalletti will restore his favorite starting 11 to face Pioli’s team in a big match valid for the qualification to the next UEFA Champions League.
