Inter 1-3 Roma: Nainggolan the difference for Roma at the San Siro

In the blockbuster Sunday night game at the San Siro, Roma came away with the three points thanks to a brilliant 3-1 away win.

2 goals from Radja Nainggolan and a penalty from Diego Perotti. Mauro Icardi pulled one back to give Inter hope.

In a very lively start with both teams pressing high and looking to attack, Roma had the first opportunity on goal, Edin Dzeko played in Mohamed Salah who hit a low fierce effort which was parried away by Samir Handanovic. Inter started off well and nearly took the led after a wonderful ball over the top to the on running Maurio Icardi who at first got ahead of Federico Fazio but the Argentinean defender done well to get back and put in a brilliant last ditched tackle.

Roma took the lead after 12 minutes and what a goal it was, Edin Dzeko held the ball up well and played in Radja Nainggolan down the left hand side, the Belgian midfielder cut in from the left and hit a wonderful effort past the outstretched Samir Handanovic. Inter nearly hit back just moments later with a quick attack hoping for the equaliser but Joao Mario could only fire over from close range.

Roma went close to adding a second, Roma broke up a Inter attack, Kevin Strootman broke from deep and played in Edin Dzeko who hit a low angled drive which was brilliantly parried away by Samir Handanovic. Inter then had very strong penalty appeals turned down when Antonio Candreva low cross was hacked up in the air by Daniele De Rossi and the ball spun behind him into space and there was a collision between Fazio and Icardi, from first viewing Inter could be hard done by. Mauro Icardi headed wide from an Inter corner, Icardi done well to get past his marker and angle his header just past the upright.

Inter in the final fifteen minutes of the first half was pushing Roma back and went close to equalising moments before half time, Joao Mario cross bounced to the edge of the area it found Marcelo Brozovic but his effort was parried behind for a corner from Szczesny.

A fast pace high octane first half as passed us by, Roma started of the stronger in their 3-4-2-1 formation and pinned Inter back with quick counter attacking football. A brilliant goal from Radja Nainggolan who is having an indian summer playing high up behind Edin Dzeko. But Inter who were a shambles in the first thirty minutes hit back and caused Roma a few problems in the last 15 minutes and had strong penalty appeals turned away. Roma midfield is winning the game as they are over running the Inter midfield with ease and causing the Inter defence a lot of problems.

Inter started the second half as they ended it, nice build up play down the right hand side from Brozovic and Candreva, it ended with the latter hitting a fierce angle drive which was parried away at his near post by Szczesny. Inter went close again just moments later, Joao Mario hit a deep cross to the back post which evaded Bruno Peres, it fell to Ivan Perisic who took too much time and his goal bound effort was brilliant blocked by Bruno Peres. The Roma right wing back made amends for his mistake.

Roma added a second goal on 55 minutes and what a goal it was, Radja Nainggolan got the better of Roberto Gagliardini (looked like a foul). The Belgian just kept running and running and hit a rocket of an effort from distance into the top corner. Excellent piece of play from Mohamed Salah who ran diagonally and took away one of the three Inter Centre backs.

Inter then wasted two chances to pull one back, Antonio Candreva fired wide with an angle drive, then Mauro Icardi fired over from close range. Geoffrey Kondogbbia then fired wide from distance after doing well to roll past Mohamed Salah, Inter were pushing forward and trying to cause Roma problems but to no avail. Roma happy to sit back and hit Inter on the counter attack.

Inter fluffed another chance to pull one back as Geoffrey Kondogbia fail to get contact from a Mauro Icardi header across goal. Then at the other end as Inter were stretched, Diego Perotti (subbed on) broke from deep and crossed in for Edin Dzeko who could only head over the bar.

Inter pulled one back with ten minutes remaining and it has been coming, a cross from the right which evaded the Roma defence found Mauro Icardi at the back post to bundle home. Game on!!

With Inter pulling a goal back, they conceded a penalty when Gary Medel brought down Edin Dzeko when through on goal. Diego Perotti calm as you like slotted the penalty into the bottom corner giving the eyes to Samir Handanovic.

Massive Roma win away from home at the San Siro, especially after Napoli dropping points at home to Atalanta. Roma rode their luck in the second half and with woeful finishing from Inter it could have been a different story. Poor defending cost them for the goal from Icardi but showed character to go up the other end and add the third from the penalty spot.
