As Roma may be the best choice for Etihad Airways

The American management thinks big… but this is not something new. This is just the American style, the American way of doing things… assessment, business plan and action. The construction of the new stadium and the partnerships established with major American giants such as Disney, Starwood Capital, and Nike are the perfect examples… they think big!

Another way of thinking is that of the Arabs. An expansionary business model that is projected to the consolidation of their economic supremacy to show to the whole world. This is the reason why Etihad Airways is the best airline company in the world…they think big!

The recent involvement of Etihad Airways in the acquisition of Alitalia leads the Arabs to have an interest in sponsoring AS Roma following the club in its future projects. The construction of the new stadium that will take place near Fiumicino airport would bring incredible benefits to the company of Abu Dhabi. The Arabs would lay down their main European hub in the Italian capital with which they could boost their European airlines routes expanding their business worldwide. As previously said…this is their way of doing business.

In order to better understand these concepts, let’s take a look at the sponsorship deal between Etihad Airways and Manchester City. Etihad belongs to the Abu Dhabi royal family, and the Abu Dhabi United Group but in reality it is a company owned by Sheik Mansour’s brother. As stated by “The Guardian” Manchester City – Ethiad deal has been worth 400 million pounds over a decade. Let’s take it to be £40m per year.

The sponsorship represents a financial backing for Manchester City’s shirt sponsorship as well as the Etihad Campus. Moreover, Etihad Airways is also paying for the naming rights of the stadium, for this reason called Ethiad stadium.

Here we are! AS Roma is building the new stadium (remember the naming right story), close to the airport (remember the Alitalia deal), Rome is one of the most touristic cities in the world (remember that we are speaking about Etihad Airways), and that, as stated by Rudi Garcia, AS Roma’s project is one of the most important in the world scene.

Let’s see if these pieces come together and can lead to an agreement.

    • Emiliano, we believe that Pallotta wants to monetize as much as possible from this deal. Before the beginning of the next Serie A they should close a sponsorship deal. It would be more convenient. Stay tuned!
