Inter vs AS Roma: Match Preview

It is the second return of Jose Mourinho to San Siro on Saturday evening as he takes his Roma side back to Milan to face his former club looking to go unbeaten in thirteen games in Serie A. This will be Mourinho’s second visit against his former side after the February Coppa Italia defeat.

AS Roma made it twelve games unbeaten in Serie A on Easter Monday after a late Stephan El Shaarawy equaliser gave them the spoils of the points in Naples. It was a mature performance from Roma against Luciano Spalletti Napoli side. Napoli dominated the initial stages of the game and took the lead from a Lorenzo Insigne penalty. But Roma grew stronger and stronger into the game and were the better side in the second half.

Napoli coach Luciano Spalletti took off his potent attackers in Lorenzo Insigne and Victor Osimhen and changed to a back five. Mourinho retorted by bringing on another attacker to replace a defender with Carles Perez coming on for Gianluca Mancini. Napoli invited the pressure and sat deeper and deeper and it cost them the three points.

Roma capitalised on Napoli’s weakness and struck in ninety minutes. If it were not for calmer heads, Roma really could have taken even more away from Naples. I think Jose Mourinho was right in shouting justice after Stephan El Shaarawy’s equaliser.

Roma will be without Nicolo Zaniolo after he picked up a yellow card in the draw away in Naples. Daniel Fuzato will also miss the game as he was sent off from the dugout in the second half.
