The Italian midfielder has been capable of playing in many different roles since his arrival at Roma. Cristante is a multitasker and Fonseca likes his way to play.

Whenever we judge the performance of a player we should take into consideration his technical skills but also his ability to cover many areas of the pitch when needed.

Bryan Cristante may be considered Fonseca‘s treasure at this time. Since the beginning of the season, the Portuguese coach played him as a centre-back in a three-man defensive system and in front of the backline as well. His physicality definitely is a great factor in today’s football and his tactical wisdom helps him to keep the right positioning throughout the match.

Cristante also got the captain armband yesterday. He played a good Europa League match against Young Boys. When asked about his feelings and his ability to help his team playing in different roles he said:

It was a great feeling. It’s a pleasure to be the captain of a team like Roma…

It means that I’m capable of playing in many different roles. I do what the coach asks me to do.
