The performance of the Giallorossi have not consistently improved from the 2018-19 season. Fonseca’s Roma collected only one point more.
When analyzing the current campaign we certainly have to take into consideration that the global pandemic has been changing the world and football as well. But focusing on the performance of Paulo Fonseca’s group, we can clearly understand why the fans of the Lupi are very disappointed with their heroes and the overall management of the club.
Roma suffered 7 defeats in 12 matches in 2020 and the team collected only one point more than in the last troubled season. By looking deeper into this year’s stats, the picture is even blurrier.
Roma’s overall points per game is 1.66 and it drops to 1.13 in the last 8 games (difference -31.9%). Contingencies can change the outcome of the performance, no doubt about that!
In a recent interview, the coach of the Giallorossi spoke about the identity of his team but his group doesn’t look efficient and united anymore. What if Roma’s performance will be even less effective from now to the end of the season? In that case, even Fonseca’s work could be considered extremely disappointing.
