Football can bring people together in difficult times. The Roma Club New York joins forces with other football fan clubs to help the “big apple.”
A remarkable solidarity action to help New York in this extremely difficult moment. The most important financial hub in the world, house of approximately 19 million people is fighting against an invisible enemy, the COVID-19. Since the Coronavirus hit the United States of America, New York has been the most affected State with approximately 130,000 cases to date.
The Roma Club New York, a very active group of friends who have been passionately following their beloved team from the USA welcoming hundreds of AS Roma fans landing in New York for tourism or business, joined forces with other football fan clubs of NYC against the Coronavirus.
Through the famous crowdfunding platform GoFundMe, they want to help their beloved city and fellow citizens. Thirty-four fan clubs united to achieve a common goal. Thanks to this fundraiser called “New York Kicks Coronavirus”, the Roma Club New York and the other football fan clubs have the goal to raise $15,000.
AS ROMA 360 spoke to Claudio Tamborra, one of the main figures of the Roma Club NY who said: “It’s nice seeing that 34 clubs have gone beyond sports rivalry to fight the virus. The beauty and strength of this message is the union of clubs to raise funds. In just one day, we raised more than $6,000.”
“I am having the impression of reliving what was happening in Italy. We, New Yorkers, can do more by staying at home and helping those who are working on the front lines.”
As stated by the organizers on the official page of the fundraiser, “the money will be donated to NYC Health + Hospitals, the largest public health care system in the nation, serving more than one million New Yorkers annually in more than 70 patient care locations across the five boroughs.”
