Roma defeated Cagliari at the Sardegna Arena in a thrilling seven-goal match. Fonseca praises his men for today’s performance, “everyone played well.”

Roma collect three more points to keep believing in the Champions League. Although Atalanta had defeated Lecce scoring seven goals, the Lupi entered the Sardegna Arena with the right motivation today.

The club of Bergamo seems to be unstoppable but Paulo Fonseca won’t give up and his men really believe the qualification to the prestigious European cup is still possible. “I have to say that Atalanta are a really strong team. They are offensively very strong and they are passing through a good moment. But we want to fight until the end to get to the fourth position. We have to believe it,” Fonseca said to Sky right after Cagliari-Roma.

Although Roma even have another chance to qualify for the UCL, the Portuguese coach doesn’t want to think too much about the future. The Giallorossi believe they can reach the Europa League final but there is still a lot to work on and above all Sevilla are a strong team with a lot of international experience.

“It’s not fair to think about the final when we have two tough games against a team that has won 5 [cups] in the past 15 years. Now let’s just think about this game,” Fonseca said.
