Technical and tactical mistakes halted Roma but Fonseca’s group is united

Fonseca spoke to the press ahead of the next Serie A match Roma-Bologna. His group wants to forget the last defeat at Sassuolo.

On the eve of another important Serie A clash against Bologna, Paulo Fonseca was also asked about the issues that halted his team at the Mapei stadium.

“It wasn’t just a mentality issue. We made mistakes. I made tactical mistakes and the players made both technical and tactical errors,” Fonseca said at the press conference today.

The Portuguese coach also highlighted that Javier Pastore and Henrikh Mkhitaryan will be part of the group for the next match albeit the Argentine may not be fit enough to start it.

“They trained as usual but Mkhitaryan is feeling a bit better than Pastore. Both of them are available for the match.”

Lorenzo Pellegrini’s absence can be a major issue for the group. The Italian player got a red card against Sassuolo and Fonseca must replace him in some way.

“We have other solutions such as Mkhitaryan, Kluivert can play there, Perotti can play in that position. Pastore is not at his best to start the match,” Paulo Fonseca stated to the press.

Although 2020 didn’t start as the Roma fans hoped, the team is united and the coach is in total charge of the operations. Their mission to qualify for the Champions League will restart tomorrow at the Stadio Olimpico.
