Roma, the Europa League draw is the only thing that matters

The Giallorossi needed to reach this important goal to boost the team’s confidence. Smalling welcomes Roma’s access to the next stage of the Europa League.

The road to the final match is still long and winding but the Giallorossi really want to impress on the international stage. Roma scored a pivotal goal at the KAA Gent stadium and got access to the next round of the Europa League.

Although the Giallorossi didn’t play a great match in Belgium, they all suffered and struggled together as a truly united group.

“The most important thing was to get to the next stage. We didn’t do well in the second half but we wanted to get to tomorrow’s draw,” Chris Smalling said to Roma TV after Gent-Roma.

The English defender also spoke about the Belgian team: “They were a tough team…They had not lost at home all season, that’s why they had a lot of confidence.”

But Smalling is already focused on the next Serie A game. Roma will travel to Cagliari to face the local side on Sunday. “Tomorrow, we will recover ahead of Cagliari and we will know our next opponents,” Smalling said to the official channel of the club.
