The striker will lead Roma in the tough away match against Cagliari. Kalinic has never scored this season in the few minutes played. Fonseca bets on him.

This is the time to change the trajectory of his season in the Italian capital. Nikola Kalinic has the opportunity to leave his mark in one of the most important moments of the Serie A edition 2019-20.

There is no more time to wait. The tough game against Cagliari is just around the corner and the Croatian striker may finally have the opportunity to play for more than 45 minutes tomorrow.

Paulo Fonseca didn’t give him much playing time so far, one of the reasons why Kalinic is still looking for his first goal with the Roma jersey. In the current Serie A season, Kalinic played for 45 minutes only on October 20, 2019, in the away match at the Stadio Marassi against Sampdoria. After that moment, he picked up an injury who kept him off the pitch for more than a month.

Since the beginning of the new year, Kalinic has played a total of 45 minutes divided in 4 matches:

  • vs Torino: 17′;
  • vs Juventus: 8′;
  • vs Bologna: 11′
  • vs Lecce: 9′.

Although his performances have not been brilliant, it is extremely difficult to leave positive memories when playing only a few minutes and with a team that has been struggling for months.

Tomorrow is another day and it’s time to change the chapter of a book that has been disappointing so far. Kalinic will start the match at the Sardegna Arena. When asked if Dzeko will have a chance to rest some times, Paulo Fonseca stated: “If the question about Dzeko is to know who may play tomorrow, I can tell you that Kalinic will start.”

The Roma fans hope this is the right time to see the quality of their Croatian striker.
