Roma lost today’s big clash against Juventus and Zaniolo picked up a serious injury. Fonseca and the group are sad and wish him a speedy recovery.

A very unlucky and disappointing night for the Giallorossi. After conceding two goals to Juventus in the first 10 minutes, the Lupi even lost Nicolò Zaniolo until the end of the season. The Italy international picked up a serious knee injury today and he will likely miss the final stage of EURO 2020 next summer.

In the post-match interviews, Paulo Fonseca was clearly sad for the injury of his talented player: “It’s a big problem. Now Zaniolo must think about his recovery. We are sad for him but tomorrow is another day.”

The Portuguese coach also spoke about Roma-Juventus. “If we play like this, it’s difficult against teams like Juventus. We conceded two easy goals. Then we played a good match against a very good team. We played a good second half putting Juventus under pressure,” said Fonseca to Sky.

This is the moment to talk to the group and find the right countermeasures to restart 2020 on the right path albeit many players will be unavailable against Parma (Coppa Italia) and Genoa (Serie A).
