Fonseca praised his men for their performance in the Derby della Capitale. He hopes to see a few new players in his roster to find the right stability.
A great Derby in front of a passionate audience at the Stadio Olimpico. Roma dominated Lazio throughout the 90 minutes. Paulo Fonseca’s football is very attractive but the Giallorossi need to score many more goals to become really competitive for the top positions of the Serie A standings.
Edin Dzeko played a wonderful Derby della Capitale. But when the Bosnian striker drops down to help his teammates in the construction phase, he doesn’t physically have the possibility to score lots of goals.
Roma’s coach would like to have more options, though. In the last few interviews, he had clearly stated that a few more players are necessary to strengthen his roster, especially after Zaniolo and Diwara‘s unexpected injuries.
“We always work to play like this. But it’s not easy to find stability without many players,” Fonseca said to Roma TV after Roma-Lazio. “But this team spirit and above all this courage, playing in the offensive half with the ball, must be the identity of this team.”
The Portuguese coach is, therefore, waiting for Petrachi and Fienga to finalize a few purchases in the current transfer window. Reportedly, Ibanez, Villar, and Perez may be putting pen on a contract soon.
