Both players are still recovering from their injuries. Fonseca and Montella may be forced to replace Smalling and Chiesa.
Although the Viola have been disappointing this season, Fiorentina-Roma will likely be an exciting match on Friday. In the last 8 Serie A matches, Roma did much better than the Viola but Fonseca and his men must fight hard to collect the three points.
Former Roma striker and coach Vincenzo Montella may be forced to replace Federico Chiesa. The Italian winger picked up an injury in the last Serie A clash against Inter and he may not be available to face Roma.
The Giallorossi could play without Chris Smalling at the Stadio Franchi. Federico Fazio could play with Gianluca Mancini as a center-back with Kolarov and Florenzi on the two defensive flanks.
It may be a tough absence for Roma. The Englishman is a key player to Fonseca’s roster as Mancini also stated today responding to the questions of the fans: “We understand each other with a look…But we shouldn’t only talk about the two of us. Even Federico [Fazio] gives suggestions if needed. The coach decides who plays and he knows what to do.”
