Roma’s left-back Kolarov believes VAR can add value to football and help referees make the right decisions on the pitch.
Although the last episode of Roma-Cagliari is still vivid in everyone’s eyes and mind, the captain of the Serbian national team believes technology can become a great addition to football.
“There have been many more mistakes before the introduction of VAR than with the VAR system itself. I hope things work out, it is certainly a step forward,” said Aleksandar Kolarov during the press conference with the Serbian national team. “Some like it, others don’t. Generally, I’m for VAR technology. It’s necessary to limit mistakes as much as possible.”
The Video Assistant Referee (VAR) seems to be the right way to make football become a sport with fewer complaints. But every improvement must be tested and adjusted over time. Football is no longer just a beautiful sport but a real business, though. It’s, therefore, necessary to take immediate steps forwards because time is money in this world.
