The club tries to build a competitive team for the long term purchasing youngsters, but this summer something changed. Petrachi unveiled it.

The fans wanted a change in the club’s strategies and the Roma executives decided to do something slightly different from usual. Although the Giallorossi are always chasing the best youngsters on the transfer market, one of their main objectives is also to qualify for the next edition of the Champions League.

Talented players are definitely beneficial in today’s football but experienced stars are necessary in order to let young prospects blossom faster.

Chris Smalling and Henrikh Mkhitaryan represent the change that Roma’s fans really wanted. Two stars with great qualities and international experience.

Over the years, lots of money has been spent to harvest the best prospects on the market. But the English and the Armenian players joined Fonseca‘s group because if advantageous opportunities arise, the club is ready to take them.

“At the end of the transfer window, we could have either purchased two young players or make decisions as we made with Miki [Mkhitaryan]. I’d been offered the chance to sign him and when the opportunity arose, we took it,” unveiled Petrachi.

In the last 48 hours of the summer transfer window, Roma finalized the acquisition of two world-class players. Petrachi’s ability is indubitable but the arrival of these players clearly highlighted that Roma’s executives are also listening to the fans’ demands. Although financial aspects are predominant, the club of Trigoria made an effort to get back to the football elite as soon as possible.
