Fonseca: With Veretout and Mkhitaryan We Keep the Ball Better

One of the keys to today’s victory is the inclusion of the French and Armenian in the team. Fonseca praises Veretout and Mkhitaryan for their quality.

Roma made important changes in the team today. Two players had a phenomenal impact against Sassuolo. The fans of the Lupi had the pleasure to see Jordan Veretout and Henrikh Mkhitaryan at the Stadio Olimpico.

Paulo Fonseca seemed to be very happy with their performance. The Frenchman was very useful in the interception phase while the Armenian scored a fabulous goal in his debut and helped his teammates even in the defensive phase. Lorenzo Pellegrini is the assist-man of the day (3). The Italian midfielder operated as a trequartista and he perfectly interpreted that important role.

“We made a few changes to the team playing Pellegrini higher up. We are better at keeping the ball with Jordan and Henrikh but I have to say that everyone performed well tonight,” said Paulo Fonseca right at the end of today’s Serie A match Roma-Sassuolo.

The Portuguese coach may have found the right balance for his team. Roma plays very offensive football and the team seems to be better balanced with Veretout and Cristante in front of the backline and Mkhitaryan operating on the offensive front.
