Per usual business, Napoli and Juventus are locks for the top four. The last time Napoli finished outside the top four was 2014-15 and the last time Juventus didn’t outright win Serie A was 2010-11.
Both Milan squads should once again compete for a Champions League spot with Inter being the better coached and better overall team. AC Milan has some very good young talent that should progress steadily over the next couple of years though they are still a good ways away from being a contender.
Atalanta was certainly the surprise of last season going from 7th place to 3rd in one year. They’ve made the top four two of the past three seasons. Roma has been able to poach decent talent from the team in Cristante and Mancini. Despite this, Atalanta is resilient and will likely be a bubble team.
Roma was ousted from the top four last season, previously having done so back in 2012-13. Other than Kostas Manolas leaving for Napoli, Roma generally had good turnover this summer as opposed to the disastrous summer of 2018 which ripped the former contender apart.
Finishing top four is a realistic goal and my prediction is that Roma will finish fourth behind Juventus, Inter, and Napoli in that order. Atalanta and AC Milan will finish outside the bubble, fighting for 5th place.
