Smalling Very Close to a Season-Long Loan to Roma

The Old Trafford centre-back seems to be ready to move to the Italian capital to join Roma on loan. Manchester United’s fans are stunned at club’s decision.

Chris Smalling may be a new Roma player very soon. The defender has reportedly opted to join the Giallorossi on loan for a year. Gianluca Petrachi was looking for a player capable of leading Fonseca‘s backline and the England international may be the right pick at this time.

According to Gianlucadimarzio.com, Roma and Manchester United would have an agreement already. Smalling would be happy to move to the eternal city on loan. This negotiation secretly started a couple of days ago and albeit the initial request of the Red Devils was €20 million, the two clubs would have agreed to a €3-4m fee with a right-to-buy option for about €16-17 million.

The 29-year-old defender has a contract at Manchester United to 2022. In the past campaign, he made 34 appearances with the British powerhouse for a total of about 3,000 minutes played.
