Focus 360: Manchester United’s Rojo, a Player who is Worth Two

The Argentine defender may be leaving the Red Devils before the end of the summer. Roma could be the best destination for him after troubled seasons.

The Giallorossi may be targeting the Argentine centre-back to strengthen their backline and give Fonseca a fast and experienced defender. In his latest interviews, the Portuguese coach had incessantly explained that the club of Trigoria was screening the market to find another centre-back. Although Alderweireld and Lovren may not be targeted anymore, the Lupi could find the Marcos Rojo option interesting.

The Argentine is a skilled defender who passed through a couple of troubled campaigns. He had joined Manchester United on August 20, 2014. He had great performances during his first three seasons in the United Kingdom (95 appearances | 7,342 minutes). But a cruciate ligament injury suffered in the summer 2017 and another knee issue in the following summer have compromised his overall spell with the glorious side of Manchester.

Although he was reportedly almost moving to Everton right before the end of the transfer market window in the UK, suddenly that deal fell through. Rojo may, therefore, consider another professional experience somewhere else if ManUtd’s coach Solskjaer will not give him enough chances to play.

The club of Trigoria could become a great option for the Argentine star. Marcos Rojo is a player who is worth two. A defender who plays well as a centre-back but who can also operate on the left defensive flank if needed. Although Roma has a Kolarov and Spinazzola there, the former Juventus man is capable of playing on the right flank as well.

Rojo’s salary may be a tall wall to climb for the Giallorossi, though. But if Petrachi could take him in the Italian capital on loan, Roma may have more resources to redirect on his wage.
