The Belgian defender would be a top-priority for Roma but Tottenham is not willing to compromise on his price.
Although Tottenham and Roma are talking about the future of the defender, Toby Alderweireld flew to Asia with his current club for the summer tour.
With Gianluca Mancini already wearing the Roma jersey, Petrachi and Baldini seem to be very interested in bringing Alderweireld in the eternal city. But his buyout clause represents a tough wall to climb.
The contract of the Belgian star is set to expire next year and the Giallorossi are reportedly not willing to pay €28 million to unlock this deal. Franco Baldini could be the right man to approach the executives of the British powerhouse. He would have already had contact with them and he may be meeting with Tottenham again soon.
Toby Alderweireld would be a great pick for the club of Trigoria. He could make a great pair with Mancini, two players that would be able to replace Manolas and even improve the quality of the Roma defense.
This is going to be a tough negotiation that may never end well for the Lupi. Alderweireld is reportedly Petrachi’s main target now but the expert Italian sporting director is also working on other profiles.
“We need to sign two centre-backs for Fonseca,” had said Petrachi during Spinazzola‘s press conference. The Portuguese coach is waiting for the second piece.
