The Gillorossi should have finalized the negotiation for the Spanish goalkeeper. Pau Lopez should be moving to Roma next week in order to start a new experience.
In his first press conference at Trigoria, Gianluca Petrachi had spoken about the imminent finalization of a deal. Apparently, the new sporting director of the Giallorossi had anticipated what would happen in the following hours. Reportedly, Pau Lopez will be the next goalkeeper of the Lupi.
“Today, we are here at the press conference but I’m also trying to finalize a deal for a player. I don’t know if I will make it, but I’m working on it,” had stated Petrachi. Mission completed! The Spanish keeper will be leading Fonseca‘s defense.
This is going to be one of the most important investments Roma ever made on a goalkeeper. According to several Italian outlets and to the transfer market expert Gianluca Di Marzio, the Giallorossi will pay €20 million plus €7.5m of the percentage of Sanabria‘s future resale to Real Betis.
The 24-year-old from Girona (Spain) made 35 appearances with Real Betis last campaign. He played 3,150 minutes in La Liga and Europa League edition 2018-19. The previous season he had played with RCD Espanyol (30 caps | 2,656 minutes).
