Focus 360: Roma, Great Chance Nainggolan

The Giallorossi could take advantage of a player ready to leave his current club and with a great passion for the eternal city. Could Roma bring him back at a discount?

Football is passion and during the transfer market windows, the fans feed on dreams and exciting negotiations. In a club that has recently lost some key men, Radja Nainggolan could be the perfect piece of a beautiful puzzle. Today, Inter’s CEO Marotta clearly stated that Mauro Icardi and Radja Nainggolan are no longer at the center of the project of the Nerazzurri.

“We spoke with great sincerity and maximum transparency with Icardi and Nainggolan explaining them the position of the club. This does not mean to diminish their abilities. Both of them are great players. Talent makes you win games but it is the team that wins championships. Therefore, they are not part of our project,” said  Marotta to Sky Sport.

Antonio Conte is reportedly not counting on the Belgian midfielder and the club of Trigoria could have a great chance to bring him back at a discount. Although his current salary is about €5 million per season, Inter may be willing to contribute to the payment of part of the player’s salary

What about his price-tag, though?

Inter may be happy to let him go on loan for about €9-10 million, the cost of his annual amortization. By doing so, the Nerazzurri could lower their operative expenses freeing up a spot in midfield. The 31-year-old from Antwerpen (Belgium), may be happy to return to the Italian capital.

Although there is no negotiation between the two clubs at this time, Radja Nainggolan could unlock Dzeko‘s deal as well. In the first press conference as a Roma sporting director, Gianluca Petrachi clearly stated that a team should have talented youngsters and experienced player in its roster, “Great teams are built with a mix. I would like to include some experienced players which help the growth of youngsters.”

Reportedly, Roma is asking for about €20 million for Edin Dzeko but Inter is not willing to offer more than €10m. The two clubs may meet halfway. The Nerazzurri may be interested in offering a financial contribution plus Nainggolan on loan for the Bosnian star.

A creative negotiation which could be stimulating and decisive of the contractual situations of the two players. Radja Nainggolan may never return to Roma but he would be a perfect pick to excite and bring the skeptical Roma fans closer to their beloved club.
