Focus 360: Kurzawa Could be a Top Target for Roma

The Giallorossi need a couple of very good defenders and with Kolarov redirected towards the center, Kurzawa may be the perfect pick for Roma.

There are talented players with a great future and those of a high level already. But when some of these arrive in football powerhouses, they may suddenly disappear or underperform.

Kurzawa’s story in Paris may not seem to be the one everyone expected. On August 27, 2015, the left-back was purchased by PSG. His spell at Monaco was simply sensational. He had made 95 appearances and scored 8 goals and 9 assists. When the super club of Paris decided to purchase him, he couldn’t say no.

His last season with Al-Khelaifi‘s side was not good, though. Layvin Kurzawa suffered a long injury that left him in the background from August 2018 until February 2019. The French defender played only 1.168 minutes during the 2018-19 campaign.

Nobody knows if his future will be at PSG at this time. The contract of the left-back is set to expire on June 30, 2020, and many clubs seem to be interested in him. Reportedly, Manchester United and Tottenham are chasing the PSG man who is currently not the first choice in the club of  Paris.

Due to his contractual situation, Kurzawa’s price-tag cannot be too high. PSG had purchased him from Monaco for €25 million. Nowadays, his value may be the same and therefore accessible to Roma as well. The new coach of the Giallorossi could redirect Aleksandar Kolarov to the center of the backline leaving a space empty on the left flank.

Kolarov May Lead the Roma Defense Next Season

Layvin Kurzawa could be a great player for Roma, a sumptuous defender who loves to move forward. Paulo Fonseca would definitely benefit from his endurance, experience, and physicality. Kurzawa may be a good deal in financial terms too. The player is in the best moment of his career. He will turn 27 in September and he may be worth much more in the next couple of years. Although his salary may be an issue, he would also be an intriguing bet for the Lupi.

Transfer negotiations are complicated. No many players are willing to leave PSG nowadays. But the Giallorossi should have a good professional relationship with the French side after Javier Pastore‘s recent move to the eternal city. Kurzawa may decide to renew his contract with PSG but he could be the undisputed master of the left-flank in Rome.
